Two long‑standing members of the LNP, with decades of involvement and financial support, have been suspended following their role in establishing the Liberal Reform Association (LRA). 

Graeme Haycroft and Heath Goddard's intentions to strengthen the party, not undermine it has resulted in their suspension.

Their concerns around the decline in LNP membership in Queensland and nationally citing a credible mainstream party cannot be sustained without addressing the issues. Structural problems within the LNP constitution, particularly the delegate system which enables factional influence over pre-selections and risks both party unity and electoral performance.

Graeme and Heath agree with calls from former Prime Minister, Tony Abbott that the party must significantly expand and diversify its membership base to remain viable. They argue that constitutional reform is essential and should be openly debated rather than handled behind closed doors. Several existing rules have contributed to membership decline and a gradual drift in policy direction, distancing the party from the priorities of a broader Conservative base. Addressing these problems requires a more democratic, member-driven framework to revitalise the party.

LRAs mission is to return decision-making power back to the rank-and-file members, including candidate selection, leadership ballots and performance reviews. LRA opposes disciplinary meaures which suppresses constructive debate, and transparency is necessary for meaningful reform.

Graeme and Heath reject the suspension decision and affirm their commitment to pursuing reforms that are vital for the future and relevance of the Liberal Party.
