Reclaim the Dream's Graeme Haycroft and Heath Goddard have sent a letter to former Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, asking for his help to save the QLD Liberal Party to improve Crisafulli's chances of a successful re-election.
''Tony, we need your help. You struck a chord with us in your Brisbane speech when you said "factional warlords" have turned our great party into a closed shop and an insider's club where the members are treated like mushrooms.' - Heath Goddard.
Des Houghton, writing in the Courier Mail, said:
'Goddard and Haycroft are long-time party members who angered Queensland LNP chiefs by launching the Liberal Reform Association, a lobby group that seeks to change the party's constitution to allow members a greater say in selecting election candidates.
'... they have won support from several party elders including former Liberal Party president and barrister Paul Everingham, a former MHR and Northern Territory Chief Minister.'
Said Everingham, 'I think it is shocking and scandalous that people like Goddard and Haycroft are being punished for offering to help. How could you bring yourself to support the LNP when it is doing its darndest to harm itself?'
Haycroft and Goddard believe the time to save the QLD Liberal Party - and indeed all LNP parties across the nation - is right now before the already dwindling membership numbers sink to an unrecoverable point.
