Conservatives vow to remake Liberals

  • November 5, 2025

Des Houghton of the Courier Mail has covered the Liberal Reform Association's goal to reclaim the Liberal Party - and the Australian Dream - from the hands of the moderates.

'Three Queensland conservatives have formed an association for ordinary Liberal Party members to take back control from the party chiefs they say have betrayed conservative values."

If you are reading this, you are already part of the movement to save conservative politics.

One of the founders, Graeme Haycroft, told the Courier Mail: 'We are a 100% Liberal Party supporter association.'

He adds that membership will soar once conservatives feel they have a say over who represents them and the policies taken to election.

'When was the last time there was a competitive pre-selection for a sitting member in the Liberal Party anywhere in Australia?'

It's a good question, and not one that is easy to answer.

With barely 25,000 members, the Liberal Party is in a similar state of decline as other establishment conservative parties around the world which have lost touch with the needs and values of their voters.

As Mr Houghton writes, 'Goddard and Haycroft believe many LNP voters are "disillusioned" that their sitting members are standing idly by while their party drifts to the Left.'
